FAQs
Do you allow liveaboards?
Fishing Bay Harbor Marina does not allow liveaboards permanently. Monthly transients may live aboard for a maximum stay of 90 days, with an additional monthly liveaboard fee of $75.
Do you allow all types of boats?
While the wooden boats currently leasing slips are grandfathered, we no longer lease slips to wooden boats. Transient (overnight) wooden boats are still welcome.
How does Fishing Bay Harbor Marina rent their slips?
All of our Slip Lease Agreements are for one year, and are payable annually, semi-annuall, or monthly. This includes access to the bathhouses, pool, Captain's Lounge, laundry, pumpout, high-speed wireless internet (WiFi), as well as all of the common/picnic areas. Fresh, potable water is also provided at your slip.
What about electricity?
All slips are metered individually by Dominion Virginia Power; we'll provide you with the meter number for the slip, and you will set up your own account with VA Power.
Does Fishing Bay Harbor Marina allow pets?
Yes! We are very dog-friendly. We provide a large dog-walk area behind our A-Dock bathhouse, and for sanitary reasons we ask that you pick up after your pet. To ensure the safety and comfort of everyone, we require that all dogs be leashed and that no dog create a disturbance to others. If your dog is a barker, please leave him at home so that others may enjoy the tranquility of the marina.
Do you offer discounts on fuel?
We offer a $.10/gallon discount for BoatUS members who present a valid (current) membership card. Should you purchase over 100 gallons, whether you're a BoatUS member or not, you will automatically receive the discount.
Do you sell memberships to your pool?
Our pool is for the exclusive use of our slip tenants and their families only. We do not sell memberships to anyone outside the marina.
How bad was the damage from the hurricanes?
We are very fortunate to be in a protected location. The storm surge from Ernesto was approximately 6', but the marina only lost a few trees and a few boards off the dock. Please remember that the safest place for your vessel during heavy weather is on shore, in a boatyard.
Do you have a boat ramp?
Sorry, no. Public boat ramps are scarce in this area. There are public (free) ramps at the end of Stamper's Bay Road on the Piankatank River (just behind Berkeley Island), in Wake on the Rappahannock River, and next to the Seabreeze Restaurant on Gwynn's Island. Norview Marina on Broad Creek also has a ramp available for a fee.
What is the approach depth to your marina?
We have depths of 15'+ right up to the fuel and transient dock.
How far are you to the Chesapeake Bay?
If you follow the channel markers, we are approximately 5 miles from marker 1P, the entrance to the Piankatank River.
Do you have a place I can keep my tender?
We have 30 dinghy rack spots available to our slipholders on a first-come, first-serve basis.
When is the pool open?
Our pool normally stays open from Memorial Day (last weekend of May) to Labor Day (first weekend of September). We try to stretch that as weather permits.
Can I use a grill on my boat?
Use of any type of grill either on the boat or on the dock is strictly prohibited. We provide charcoal grills in both the A-Dock and B-Dock picnic areas for this purpose.
